Private Road Maintenance

Grenville-sur-la-Rouge has many private roads. To make it easier for the owners of these private roads, the municipality may, if a majority of the owners so desire, enter into a road maintenance contract with an outside supplier and divide the cost between the owners.

To do so, owners must agree among themselves on the choice of their contractor and all terms and conditions concerning the services required. They must complete the form “Déclaration d’entretien de chemin privé” and submit it to the municipality at least 90 days before the work is scheduled to begin. The decision will be taken at a municipal council meeting. 

If the municipality accepts the request, it will enter into a contract with the chosen contractor and allocate the costs, plus a 15% administration fee, to the owners on their tax bill.
